STAND FOR ISRAEL, NOW

The Israel & World Affairs Committee (IWA) is launching a Stand for Israel initiative.  Over the past year we have witnessed a rise in assaults on Israel's legitimacy and a growing concern in the Jewish community about the strength of the U.S.-Israel alliance.  The aim of this initiative is to focus the community’s concerns on Israel to a concrete action plan.

The initiative includes collecting signatures for a Stand for Israel statement written by the Friends of Israel Initiative made up of world leaders.  The Statement aims to stop the ongoing assaults on Israel’s legitimacy and its right to live in peace within safe and defensible borders.  We will present the statement to President Obama and Madame Secretary Clinton this fall.

We invite you to support and participate in this initiative and to promote it widely at your synagogues and in the community.  The goal is to reach 40,000 people, from ages 16 and up, to participate in this effort. We can only do this with your help.

To promote this effort we have attached:

  •  A one page flyer of the Stand for Israel initiative
  • The Stand for Israel Statement
  • A page to collect signatures

We also prepared a poster and are sending the printed materials to synagogues. An E-blast has also being created that will link to the CRC website where people can sign the Statement online at www.ujcnj.org/standforisrael

We would like to list all the names of CRC members as signatures to the Statement.  Please let us know if you would prefer if we did NOT list your name by Sept 2.

We will be discussing the initiative further at the upcoming IWA meeting on Sept 7 and at the CRC opening meeting.  We will be making slight tweaks to the Statement as we receive feedback.

We thank you in advance for your participation.
